Here's the situation. I had a nail in my driver side rear tire. I took it to Discount tire for them to patch it. In the process they scratched my rim on several places. They actually tried to pop off the lug nut covers with a screw driver.....(you need an allen wrench, its not a hub cab)........anyways they have no problem replacing my rim. I specifically told them that i do not want the REPLICA RS4 rim that they advertise in car magazines. How would I know if they gave me replica or a factory rim. The guy at SAN said that one factory rim cost $790.00....ONE RIM!!!!!!!!
Again, does anybody know how I would know if they used a factory or replica RS4 rim?

When I had my wreak a while back, the insurance company had to pay for a new rim (OEM Ultrasport) and the price was around $430.00.
Easiest way I would think is to compare it to one of your factory wheels...see if they have the same markings and such.

OEM Ultrasport wheels have a lip that goes around the entire spoke of the wheel, Replica wheels have a lip towards the outside of the rim and taper out to the spoke in the center. You can also look inside the cap and see if there are Audi rings in the metal.

just bring the catalog to him and have him give you proof of purchase. secondly there is a diff between the real and reps as you can see listed below. no rep is cast in identicle mold as the oem rs4 reps therefore if the wheel has any slight difference it isnt the same wheel. no matter what you shoule be gettin the oem wheel in return...

You will see that a groove runs along the inner edge of the wheel and the spokes. That groove stops and blends in, say midway inward...
For the OEM RS4s that groove continues to the center hub of the wheel.
That is one characteristic that is very visible.
Hope that helps![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
