I heard the 1.8T will have a 6 speed manual and a new blue to replace Denim.

We'll have to see on the 6-speed part, but the Denim rumor is probably true, given the thread below

Default bah.. DSG can take more power so in that way its cool I guess

But CVT could squeaze more speed out of a given power...
Its slightly detuned as most people apparantly didnt like the way it went upto high rpms right from the get go... if they could have a sport application, it would outperform manuals convincingly in all applications!

Default I just see DSG as being their sport tranny and CVT being their more economical tranny

I know CVT is more efficient/faster in all respects, but DSG can compete directly against BMW's SMG.

Default hmm, probably

though I always saw Audi as taking a slightly different route by going multitronic as opposed to BMW investing in their DSG system.
My feeling is that for another 5+ years, DSG will be their high end as you say, but that there will come a time where the CVT can take the power and at that stage, they'd be fools not to use the CVT as is, or even have the "tuned" version which should out do anything else out there.
