PAC audio may have a possible way to hook up both a satellite radio and an Ipod to a factory HU (this example is for GM cars). Here is the link http://www.pac-audio.com/bulletins/Tech%20Bulletin%20XM%20retention%20AUX-BOX.pdf
I brought this diagram to Best Buy and one of the guys in the car audio department said it looked possible. I'm going to have this professionally installed this week. I'll update after that.

I believe the box you are talking about is the Neo ion or Dension icelink Ipod adapter. It allows the Ipod to be controlled through the factory stereo controls.

In my car, I just used my blitzsafe aux adapter, put an rca y-adapter on the aux inputs, and plugged the xm into that. I had to build a potentiometer circuit for the xm because the line level was too high, but that's not a big deal...

the aux-box in the diagram and blitzsafe are basically the same thing. This is a way to use both your ipod and retain the satellite radio.
In your car does both the ipod and satellite radio work or did you have remove/unhook the sat radio?

most of the time i only listen to satellite radio, so the ipod isn't even in the car. However, when i do listen to the iPod, all I have to do is plug it in. The sat radio stays hardwired all the time (this is all behind the dash). That said, when using one, the other must be turned off. Running the sat radio and the ipod at the same time produces a lot of distortion and is probably bad for the blitzsafe and/or stereo hu.

if you have the OEM sat radio. You need three wires (Audio left/right/ground) to go from the head unit back to the sat receiver and the standard IceLink/Blitzsafe/Phatbox cable. The sat receiver has an audio in for CD changer style source, that's what you need the three wires for, everything else goes as usual to the CDC plug behind the head unit.

my understanding was that the blitzsafe used the same aux ports as the sat radio and therefore you had to chose one over the other. I mean this is what I've gotten from several installers and online. If I'm wrong let me know because my option is hardwiring an FM Modulator for the Ipod.
