I had an Audi S4, Stage II a year and a half ago, but was blowing MAFs all the time (it was an 00). I sold it for something more reliable, and bought a 350Z. I miss AWD in the winter and Audi interior quality so I am buying another, but this time A4. Dealer has new 03 leftover for 27000 (I will try to do better tonight on price), loaded without sport package (not sure on HIDs). I am tempted, but also considering used 02/03, maybe a sport package.

I plan to lower and buy rims if i get non-sport, and only chip and mild performance mods for now.

Were there any common problems with 02's, or would you go new 03? I would like to obviously have lower payments, but new 03 seems nice, especially covering all the maintenance on the car.

fixed under warranty. I bought a used 02 a few months ago and haven't had any problems (knock on wood). I love it! Coming from a S4 and a Z, I think you'll miss the zip. I'm not sure if you realize how heavy and slow our cars are

Not sure if the chip will be enough. The S4 even stock felt as quick as the Z, although Z handles great. Coilpacks shouldnt be a problem I guess, just making sure MAFs werent an issue, I never want to deal with that again. I almost am considering an 01 S4, but I feel like that is backwards progress after having sold my 00, I also love the B6 style now.

Is anyone really unhappy with how slow the chipped 1.8t is? I would really like to autox this car a lot, maybe even start doing some track time.

I got an 02 3.0 its nice, only advantage the 02 has is the rear heated seats . . . my girl firend has an 03 1.8t and she has no problems there. . . I would go used 02 all the extra money for what less miles and rims you will want to get rid of anyway ... not worth it ... miles mean nothing on an audi if you take care of it I just put my old audi coupe GT to rest three months ago with 412,004 miles on the odometer and i beat the hell out of it
