Seems right though, i start my car and let it warm up for 5 mins or so in the morning and get in to cold seats. BRRRrrr, i want them toasty warm by then. However within a min or two of being in the car the seats start to get nice and warm, wtf.
If there is such a sensor, can i turn it off or unplug it or hotwire the sob on?

they do take a few minutes to fully warm up and maybe thats what your sensing.
even when its freezing out, I can only put it on 2 max anyway since the sensors in my *** cant handle anymore than that.

my 330ci on "3" high position would take oh say 1 minute to reach "whoa" warm.
the pleather A4 takes about 2 minutes to reach "whoa warm" then goes on to 4 minutes "OMG i have pissed myself" as a few woman have described the too hot condition (do they really **** them selves?)
so the e46 kicks ***, but it had leather. it warmed up real fast, it also only had front heated seats.
Its possible the bmw has the ability to surge more juice to the heating elements on boot. I spose you could raise the voltage to vREF of 17V for about 30 seconds then drop back down would that help? I'd like to know.
I figured the pleather just can't take such a fast heating cycle like leather can.
I've been meaning to ask you 4 (leather/pleather) and 2 seat (leather/pleather) guys how long it takes to get butt and back warm.
i'd say my audi is 2x to 2.5x slower than my e46 bmw

I think JJsLegacy is on the money about the weight. Your body weight helps keep everything intimately close - Heat is transferred faster this way. I do think the rear seats have sensors since it's more likely that you'll not notice if they are on. I've found them switched on by mistake sometimes and did not find the seat to be warm at all.
