Default shaking vibration at 80 mph...what is it?

my new 3.0 quattro is a little over 1 week old and i noticed that the car shakes pretty seriously at 80+ mph. and the steering wheel vibrates. feels unstable.

i've never had this happen in any of my previous vehicles. the car shouldn't be hurting so much at 80 mph.

btw...these are on smooth highway roads. but it feels like i'm going over mini speed bumps or something.

could it be my alignment or tires or wheels? btw...my tires are michelin pilot hx. 36 psi all around.

any ideas?

Have your alignment checked.

Default Re: so you think it's my alignment?

if so...then i'll mention it to my dealer.

i also feel like it's pulling slightly left at times. it's probably the alignment.

is there anything else it could be?

thanks.

wheels are out of balance, or rims are bent.

if my rims are bent...are they covered? or would i have to replace them myself?

there's no way i bent the rims. if they are bent...it was bent before i bought the car.

i've been driving smooth, flat roads since i got the car.

i hope it's the rims. if wheels are out of balance...i assume the the dealer will rebalance without charges.

Default Odds are you lost a wheel weight...that's all....

Dealer will balance free since you just gave him $35,000 a few days ago.

whichever one it is, the dealer should take care of it for you FOC.

little pieces of steel attached to the rims. They are used to balance your wheels.
