Short shifter question ...
Pardon me my ignorance, but how big of a job are we talking about ?
Is it swapping or re-tooling the gear box ?
What about warranty issues and costs ?

Real easy to do, it took me about an hour to put the new shift shaft in. 
Just takes a few wrenches and a bit of time and then you have a nice short throw to the shift. It cost $190. I don't know of any warranty issues, I had one in my last A4 and the dealer loved it.
