Default ditto apr is 1.5 hrs away ( i mean APR themselves ). they do free install and show you around

if you call ahead and talk to them. very cool digs they had (i hear the new digs even cooler).

Default To do over, I'd have gotten the GIAC

My APR stuff (with their injectors) was a nightmare, and though it was mostly sorted out, I still get cels, misses etc. Worse than the product is the support which varies from horrible to non-existant. I'd never recommend APR to anybody.

Default I have APR 1+. I would go GIAC if I did it all over again.

1. No support from APR.

2. They don't list all their official dealers on their web site.

3. Hard starts.

I tend to agree on #1.

Default At the time, we had APR and Neuspeed vendors in town (Detroit)...m..

I was a bit scared about sending the module off in the mail. The APR dealer here is a good shop and local, so I went with them.

As for differences between tuners' stage 1s, you will not be able to tell the difference between a 1-3 peak hp difference. What you may feel is a difference if their torque bands have different profiles at given RPMs.

Version 2 for APR was a software update about 18 months ago that improved performance by about 5-10 hp and -10 ft-lbs of torque. I should just call it stage 1, since most people do not know about v1 (I got it in 2003).

Default GIAC is a tad bit more agressive than the APR software

both will yeild you the about same power but they will drive differently. That being said if AWE is only 15miles from you go to them and get the GIAC. AWE has a GREAT relationship with GIAC and won't let you down.

TJ: Hey Ryan, was the dyno sheet in your sig made with the GIAC 1+ setup? Do you have a baseline?

I had communication issues with APR, I'm glad I went with GIAC. Great software.

Default they dyno in my sig is with GIAC FX but I don't have a "true" baseline

here it is with just my exhaust:

Here is just giac st.1 but on a different dyno (still dyno dynamics but a different facility) I don't trust this plot as it was run in "shoot-out" mode:

Here's Andrew's dyno of his car with thermal but it has the baseline in there too. Same dyno as on my FX

Cool. Thanks for the feedback. Very nice numbers for a stage 1+ setup.

Quick Reply: Should I get the GIAC stage1+ chip or the APR stage1+ chip?
