If it's a 1.8t take the time and learn manual, you'll have more fun. Plus you'll get better perform.

If you don't have to worry about driving in traffic too much, learn to drive manual. It's worth it.

Default Some people love it some hate it. I personally love it and wouldn't buy a car without it...(more)

Usually manual gives you a better performance, especially on 4-cylinder engine. You have more control over a car with different shifting techniques. But at the end it comes down to a personal preference. I don't think there's a way to make an objective decision until you drive both for some time.

Best,

You'll learn quickly - go for the stick! Much more fun to drive (IMHO)

Default I have never heard anyone with a manual say it shifts too much, roughly, sluggish acceleration, etc.

It's using the wrong gear at the wrong time, it's herky jerky, it doesn't know which of the 300 programmed shift patterns to use, it down shifts when I accelerate on the level with hardly touching the gas and is annoying, can't go from 5th to 3rd like I want to, free wheels down hills where I constantly use the brakes and wear them out.....all the above is what I hear at the lunch table from auto trans owners. I have yet to hear a manual trans owner complain except in stop and go traffic the clutch gets old quickly.

Manual trans gives you better control over your vehicle, it's lighter and gives a more direct coupling between engine and drive wheels. Not much is lost in the transition. That's why manuals are usually faster and give better mileage. Personally, I like to choose which gear the car is in and I like the fact that it doesn't change until I change it. Much better control. Plus, it's a skill you really want to have in case you ever HAD to drive a manual in an emergency. Quick and easy to learn.

Default I own both a tip and a manual. I reccomend the Manual.

The Tip is the pits. I regret not buying both as manuals.
