Default Ski/snowboard rack for Avant.

Going to Mammoth in 2 weeks and I need to throw a rack on my Avant. The Factory ones only carry 2 boards so I was looking at Yakima and Thule. I like the Yakima ones and have used them on other cars in the past. Looking at the pictures on the web site they seem to pull inward on the factory roof rack to hold them on. I'm afraid this will end up screwing them up. Any thoughts. Thanks.

http://yakima.com/images/products/dynamic/illustrations/8000118.jpg</a

Default I have the same system on our Minivan and the way it works...

is the clamp tower squeezes the car rack. The car rack is protected by durable rubber to ensure snug and scratch resistant fit. It does not pull it inward.

I've used the 3 different generations of the Yakima system and IMHO, they are the ones to get.

Default Check my picture poster for pics of Thule...

I've used Thule for many years with no complaints. Don't think you can go wrong with Thule or Yakima.

Default FYI, the Audi ski/snowboard carrier is actually a Thule, so the base carrier bars are prob

also made by Thule.

Also, I believe the Audi ski/snowboard carrier is designed to carry 4 snowboards; two side-by-side, and the other two are base-to-base to the first two. (Haven't tried it myself.)

Default Here's my Avant with a Yakima

Just got home from Stowe VT. I toyed with a black Allroad on 91 S. It smoked me up a hill and never looked back... It was my fastest trip home ever and the rack hung on just fine. Actually had two boards in it for the drive home (~220 miles)
