it is somewhat addressed in <a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a4gen2/msgs/696719.phtml">this post.</a> based on what people are saying in response to your post it seems like it definitely is normal and could possibly be the abs. i am going to try and get a hold of the service advisor and run it by him cause if it is the abs and normal, i don't want to have to take my car in.

and described the situation. he said that if the engaging/clunking sound occurs only after starting the car the it is the ABS system. he wasn't very clear if it was a test/purge/initiating or what, but definitely the ABS system functioning properly. it occurs at ~3mph which is why you might notice it in R, 1, or even 2 gears, as long as you reach ~3mph. he said that it sounded like we were talking about the same thing but if i wanted i could bring the car by the dealership (w/o an appointment) and he would jump in and see if that's what it actually is. if you are still worreid i would suggest doing the same.
