I love my Audi but when the air conditioner is on there is a huge flat spot. Does anyone else have this problem with their Audi A4?

Do you have a 3.0 or 1.8T? If you have the 1.8T the AC + some turbo lag could be what you are experiencing.

we actually did a problem about this in physics class back in the day. If i remember correctly, having the air conditioner on full blast can have the following effects on the overall power of the car (moving the car foward):
-minimum "power" consumption: 12%
-avg consumption: 16%
-can take up to 30%!!
and as you may have guessed, the air conditioner has a parallel effect on your mpg.
So yeh, since then, whenever I want to be quick, the air goes off.

If the demand load is low for a/c the a/c compressor somehow magically varies its displacement to reduce load to near zero loss when cruising at a steady state.
if its ***** blasting hot outside, sure it will be working 100% to help you out.
probably why the a/c compressor costs nearly a grand to replace lol. gotta love high tech stuff.
