Default Snow and the Bridgestone RE950?

As many of us often do when it comes to our beloved Audis, I am perhaps over-analyzing my tire replacement options...

Mine had OEM Michelin MXM4 and I have narrowed down to the Continental ContiExtreme or the Bridgestone RE950 as replacements. The only item preventing me from pulling the trigger on the RE950 is some negative reports I've read on snow.

I live in RI and drive quite a bit in upstate NY and around New England - snow is definitely a factor I need to consider. So those of you with RE950 - what is your real evaluation of snow performance? I'm definitely stuck on an all season model - should I be looking at something else?

Default I've got a set of Potenza RE950s on the Integra...

They are awesome in the dry and wet, but they are not very good in snow. You can get around, but not with a large degree of confidence. I bought a set of dedicated snow tires.

The story may be different with the A4 because it has a different tire size and substantial increase in vehicle weight. A4 is about 3,600lb weight, Integra weighs 2,800lbs.

Hope that helps

Default Honestly Chris, how good are they in they in the snow?

I'm thinking I'd recommend them to my sister for her B5 A4: her OE sport Dunlop SP8000's are way overdue for a replacement.

Default No all season is going to be great in snow, they are not built that way.....

these are meant to take a light dusting up to an inch.

Default That's about what I'm trying to find tires for anyway, given where I am.

What about resistance to hydroplaning? Where I am rain is a daily thing in the winter...

Default Had a set on my new B6 in winter 2002, forget it. A dangerous tire.
