So trying to chase down this front end clunk, I looked at the snub mount. When I touched it, it could slide forwards and backwards slightly. Is this normal? I remember when putting it on, it was pretty tight and snug, no movement. Degrading over the years? Possible cause of clunk in the front end (only when coming to a stop or starting off from a stop).

Should be snug. Might not be the cause of the noise, but should be addressed.

Would it being warm have anything to do with it? The snub was pretty warm to the touch.

I don't think so. Some heat transfer from the powertrain should be expected.
