It just seems odd Audi is discontinuing the 3.0 after only 4 years.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the new 3.2 engine doesn't share a lot with the 3.0 engine.

Default Probably has a lot to do with Cosworth's fate.

Ford not only pulled the plug on their F1 ride (Jaguar) but also divested themselves of the company.

I think it's in limbo now.

Agree, the 3.2 is more based of VW's VR6 engine.

Default I guess it depends on how you look at it...

IIRC the 2.8 12v and the 2.8 30v both were equally short lived at 4 years or so...

2.8 and 3.0 share commonalities. its almost the same engine and 2.8 has been kept for over 5 years

to recall the 3.0 has different block and is vastly different than the 2.8L.

Default Urr? The VR6 3.2 and 3.2 V6 are totally different animals!

The block configuration, head(s) etc... no architecture in common.

I don't think so. The 3.0 was all new at the time.
