So does the S4 handle the same as the A4?

S4: 0.85g (www.fastcars.com)
A4 1.8t between 0.81g-0.83g (various sources)
Of course, these numbers depend heavily on tire/wheel combinations as well as driver skill/guts and, of course weather.

having driven both. In stock form and S4 feels like it handles much better.
but that might be partially due to the fact that you can pull out of corners a lot faster and harder.

Several factors play in to which one is a better handling car....
In stock form, I'm sure the S4 is probably set up better than the A4 from the factory. However all things being equal, same chassis, driver, weather, tire/wheel combo and a properly set up suspension (aftermarket) the A4 should be a better handler. Less overall weight anywhere from 300 to 600 lbs less and more critical is where this weight is located. The S4 as to be heavier in the nose, so the A4 should be nimbler. I'm willing to bet (a beer) that a well tuned A4 with 300 Hp (wish) could tickle if not beat an S4 on the track

I would like to see a stock A4 out handle a BMW M3.
If you compare the two cars you would have to do it stock vs stock car....otherwise both parties can spend losts of money in suspension stuff to make it better.

I'm not sure I understand what the M3 has to do with it...
But if you're implying that the S4 can outhandle an M3 but the A4 (w/ OEM sport suspension) can't, I'd disagree. I doubt either of them would if the M3 were in the hands of the right driver.
BTW, this discussion got continued here, on the S4 Forum with lots more information. Read LCP's posts regarding weight distribution and the effect of overall vehicle weight.

I do know better!
This discussion got continued here, in the S4 forum. I already posted the link to your explanation there, but it got ignored for the most part. Seems there are a lot of S4 owners who can't bear the thought that the mighty S4 shares it's suspension with the lowly A4...
PS, I was kinda playing devil's advocate in this post. :>

Well what can I say?
I guess I'm happy that I have an A4 and have the same handling as the S4.
And I'll let the S4 drivers think whatever they want :-D.
You made me go search and post, so your devil's advocacy worked out just fine :-P
