Default So I think I found prob with REVO surge...

Took it to the Audi dealer and they found a blown vac. line somewhere. He hooked it up to vag and says it is peaking at 2.2 bar like 31ish psi. Is this possible? I didn't think the ko3 could do that kind of psi. I am thinking if it is this can't last long correct?

Default the vag reads the boost pressure based off the current atmospheric pressure

you're only doing 1.2 bar, since normal atmospheric presure is 1 bar.

btw, The vag cant read past 1.5 bar.

Default They need to subtract the pressure at idle from that number (example inside)...

...For example...I'm peaking at 2380 mbar, and at idle VAG is reading 830 mbar...2380-830=1550mbar or 1.55 bar...convert to psi you get about 22.5 psi. Now...your idle reading will be different, as I am in Colorado elevation...hope that helps...sounds like your REVO is boosing about what mine is though.

This is along the lines of what OxygenA4 stated, however atmospheric pressure isn't ALWAYS 1 bar...it varies based on elevation, relative humidity, etc.

2.2 bar - 1 bar for atmospheric pressure = 1.2 bar boost = 17.6 psi

Ok but why do you subtract idle from max?

Default You are correct

where you are will be a much lower reading and as you get closer to sea level it will reach 1013(IIRC) which is 14.7 psi or 1 bar of atmos pressure.

Default I guess this is more proof that most techs at the dealership dont know all that much.

The other 2 are correct, you have to remove anywhere from 900-1100 mbar from the vag reading. But the K03 can boost up to 25psi, I know because I used to run 24psi on my K03.

Because the VAG reading includes atmospheric pressure in it, and you are only concerned w/ boost.

So I should be good with his reading of 2.2 bars at almost sea level?

Yes...that actually sounds a little low for a peak boost on REVO, so you're OK.
