any further dealership configurations. The dealer adapted a replacement ECU, removing the APR ECU, so now I can use either one.
There is a Immo Clone program free from APR, or most tuners can copy the Immo from one ECU to another. And, it doesn't have to be the exact PN, as long as it's "compatible". For example, The PN of the original ECU is 8E0 919 518AF, and the unit I have now, was flashed by the dealer to 518AK I have an '03, and the 518AK ECU was first used on the '04s.

It seems that the software process where the PIN/code not revealed is when they mate a key to a car, not when mating an ecu to an immobilizer/instrument cluster. I guess calling the dealer with the numbers in the Ross-tech directions is the only way to find out.
Either way, if the Audi dealer gets ahold of your spare ECU with the GIAC file, and mates it to the car for you, the GIAC file will probably be erased and you will need a re-flash. If the car that the ECU came from is not the same car that you are installing the ECU into (that is, if the VIN is not the same), GIAC will not allow their dealer to perform a re-flash.
According to my GIAC dealer, even if you adapt the ECU to your car through VAG-com yourself, the GIAC file may not allow the car to start if the VIN doesn't match the one that the file expects, as it is kind of a "password" to allow the file to function, and therefore to allow the car to operate. That sounded strange to me, but I have not tried to verify this yet by performing a DIY ECU mate with my spare.
But now that I see this a different way, I might give it a shot since I do have a spare ECU with a GIAC file on it.
