Default So who here has had their windshields replaced with non-oem?

My windshield is pretty sand blasted from all the driving I do. It glares in the sun and is not very good for vision.

Thinking of getting it replaced with non-oem windshield so the glass is harder and not as soft as OEM.

Anyone have a non-oem windshield? Better than OEM to withstand sand blasting and such? Insurance covers my windshield replacements so I should do it if it doesn't cost me anything.

PPG windshield in Pitsburgh PA cost me $255 @ Advanced Auto Glass. Wavy at the top.

Default I had a Pilkington replacement in my 2.7T, thought is was actually better than OEM...

not for the anti-pitting (did not have it long enough to really tell), but the distortion appeared to be less noticeable.

I think TeddyBGame in NE had a good recommendation for auto glass installation in the Boston Area, and others agree with his recommendation. If you search the NE forum for "Don Cotton" you'll see some good feedback.

Default Safelite, in my driveway, 300$

choice of glass... OEM, PPG, or some other OEM equiv.

turned me on to that Sprayway Glass cleaner, that's all they use!

hmm cool, my windshield is all nicked up...maybe ill treat myself to a new one in a few months

Default how'd they do with detaching and reattaching your rear-view mirror? i can see (more)

them screwing that up...at least in my experience
