Default Somebody told me.....

I was discussing my Audi A4 order (supposed to get it this month) to some colleagues the other day and then I receive this email from one of them

"My sources say the 4 wheel drive part of this car is flawed, Porsche
used the same system back in the early '90s and dropped it after two(2)
years, The seloid that kick in the 4wds ,quits in a year or so, tears up
the plastic gears, can not buy replacements. Check it out!"

What the hell is he talking about?!!

Do a search on both A4 forums for Quattro problems. Please let us know if you find any.

Yeah, obviously Audi has been using a flawed AWD system for the last 25 years...

Default Out of thousand of cars I've seen pass through the service drive, the only QTR failure I've ever

seen, was when someone put larger tires on the rear than the front.

I've seen cars with upt to 500,000 miles on them w/o any QTR issues. The Torsen center diff is used in Hummers.

Your friend is a keyboard car nut - and a poorly informed one at that.<ul><li><a href="http://autozine.kyul.net/technical_school/traction/tech_traction_4wd_2.htm#Torsen">Set'in it straight</a></li></ul>

Default several things wrong with thier statement

A. There are NO seliniods in the system at all, never have been

B. there are NO plastic gears in the quattro system, never have been

Like April/verdegrrl our shop has never had a torsen diff fail. The guys obviously know nothing about Audi's (or cars most likely).
