Somewhat OT, but I took a GTI for a drive tonight. All I have to say is..

For anyone coming from a slush-box transmission, I can see how the DSG feature would seem pretty slick. However, coming from a stick, I still felt this set-up was a compromise to the standard transimission. Simply put, the feedback of the DSG between gears reminded me of the feel one gets when you remove the clutch too slowly.

I own an A3 and B6. The only issues I have with A3 is that when you downshift to gain traction, it's not that quick as with stick or upshifting. But upshifting is so fast and the gears are such as even in 6th there's enough power to overtake others.
A 2.0T with chip would bring it to the level of power and traction of a 3.2, with less weight. But you need some really sticky tires to control the FWD.

crisp and instant - way faster than a manual tranny shift.
I threw it in normal tip mode too, just to see if there was a noticeable difference, and the whole car changed into a slug relative to how it performed in DSG mode.
Not sure if I'd give up a 6-speed manual for it (still felt a little wierd driving with the DSG), but I could likely get used to it. Almost felt like playing a video game rather than driving!
