I bought 4 radio keys and when I slide them in, I hear clicks like they're catching, but the radio doesn't want to come off. Yes, I'm pointing the keys in the right direction--they're labeled "top left," "top right," "bottom left," "bottom right" ![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
What's the quickest way to get the radio out aside from the keys? Can I pull the top panel out right above the radio or should I just give up and ask the dealer to release it for me?

is there a way to use somekind of leverage?
been using these instructions (<a href="http://potato.smashedhat.com/pattjin/audi/stereo.php">removal </a>)
should i be angling it somehow? bend the top tools downwards and the lowers upwards?

If you can pull them out then you don't have them in correctly. Try flipping them over. When engaged the keys lock on and push to the side the tabs that hold the head unit in. You should be able to pull the head unit out by pulling on the keys. It's snug but shouldn't require mass amounts of force.

The dealer couldn't get mine out, they said the radio comes out before any of the trim around it. I ended up doing a little prying with a flathead screwdriver, while my friend tugged on the cassette slot. Finally it budged, one of my clips inside was bent. Watch not to damage anything!

If you insert it correctly, it's locked in. If you can pull the tool out, then it didn't lock. Once you pull the radio out, you need to push the release buttons on the radio unit to get the tools out.

slide the keys in until they catch then pull keys away from center. I was doing it right except I couldn't get enough leverage on the tape so out of frustration, I used a putty knife and pried the left and right sides out. Worked well!
I originally thought my keys weren't working, but it was actually just the damn rubber parts that wouldn't release them on the track.
Install was pretty easy and I'll post the pics later. PDA install with GPS write-up soon. Thanks again...
