Default Spare Keys fixed....thought the battery was dead...(more)

Yesterday, my wife needed to drive my car to the store and decided to use her key remote to the A4. She drives my car maybe once every 3 months (I have her trained very well..haha)

Anyways, she hit the unlock button on her remote and it did not work. So, I took her keys and opened the door manually. Then I put her keys in the ignition and left it on the AUX position (prior to start up), while the keys were in the ignition I hit the unlock button and lock buttom several times. All of a sudden the remote started to work.

I don't know if others have done this, but it saved me from going to the dealer for a battery.

You should post this up in the AZ forum as "Easter eggs...features not in the Manual"

Default I'v had the opposite problem...get out and teh alarm won't arm/lock. Did the same as you, but I

think I started the car. Remote worked fine after that???

For clarification, because you used the key to get in the ride it disabled the alarm?

Peace!

Default Yeah everytime you put the key in the ignition and turn it

the key is coded.

it's a unique function.
i have a turbo timer, and have to lock the car with the key manually. Sometimes I can't re-open the door with the remote when I return to the car.

All I do is stick the key in and turn it.

Well the correct procedure IIRC, is to turn the key in the ignition, and wait for 10 seconds.

Take the key out and it should work.
