Are the Speaker grilles part of the door panel, or separate?
The door bounceback got me the other night, and I put a L-shaped hole into my driver side speaker grille. The speaker is fine, I just want to replace the grille, if I can. (I Lined up the edges of the damage, and you can't hardly tell that the hole is there, but I KNOW.)
PS: Hi! I've been lurking for a while. First post, unfortunately not a happy one. I just got my car on Sept 7th.

The grill isn't meant to be separated from the door panel, but you probably could do it (more)
The problem is that I doubt Audi would be able to sell you just a replacement grill. See what your dealer says...
FYI, the small grill for the tweeter at the top of the door does pop off from the panel.

(I'm used to the MkIV VW door panels where the speaker grill was permanently attached to the (more)
door panel)
...and the stupid Bentley CD doesn't show removal of the speaker grill from the A4 panel.

Yeah, $17 surprised me too and certainly made the car wash operator who paid for it happy.
(3 free car washes). The service writer thought that it would be an easy fix so told me that they'd cover the labor gratis during my 20K service. Unfortunately they found that it was a bigger job than they thought but still didn't charge me anything (the car wash operator got off pretty easy this time). Just another reason I appreciate this dealership.

They are attached to door panel, but they are glued/heat riveted on......(m)
don't know how to explain, except picture a rivet, the speaker grilles have a plastic skinny tube that is riveted (melted) onto the door panel.
But they can be taken off and bought separately from door panel

Re: Does it look like it could just be flattened from behind so it's just a fine break in the grill?
Actually, I looked HARD at it at lunch, and since I lined up the breaks last night, I can't tell where it is anymore.
I may have it replaced when I do one of my future services, but I'm a lot less worried about it after looking at it at lunch..
(Besides, my car has had it's first minor wound, so I can quit dreading that first one.)
