Most states and Canadian provinces are on or will subscribe to this license compact in the near future. Never walk away from a ticket. If the state you got a ticket reports you to a third state (not the one you live in) and you get pulled over there, they can take your license from you too!

...the fines just showed up on my credit card. They went through the rental company. Point is, this is revenue generation and they (whoever) are going to get their money or make you pay in more painful ways.
