is sport suspension option worth it?

I love and appreciate it. The stiffer sport suspension ride is NOT for everyone though, so make sure you test drive one before you lay down a deposit.

German cars give you much better feel for the road. The difference in ride quality from the regular audi suspension to the sport is hardly noticeable.

was not able to drive the 3series SP or C series SP, but they were deffinately softer sprung. As a result they also rolled more (especially the MB). Its interesting that you point out that the Audi A4 non SP and the SP are that close in ride quality. I truly believe the SP will turn off some buyers unless they understand what the extra 'stuff' is going to do for them.
Anyone else who has driven sport and non-sport care to comment on the difference in ride & handling?
PS - WTF is up with Road and Track saying the new gen a4 is LESS sporty in the handling department; thought the suspension was stiffer and body was more rigid and they used new suspension components? Oh well, still love my A4 :-)

My wife will be driving the car 90% of the time; i'll make sure we test drive both cars with and without to make sure she doesnt mind the extra bumps in return for better handling.

My wife drives our A4 80% of the time and she has never had a problem with the ride of the sport package. That's saying a lot considering the roads here in W. PA are fairly rough.

There is no reason you couldn't swap out your springs, shocks, antiroll bars, wheels, etc, to exactly duplicated the sport setup. I recall several folks discussion having done so with their 1st-gen A4s over in that forum. However, you'll spend much more than by just equipping the car this way from the get go. Parts that are purchased by the factory in huge volumes and built into a car and much cheaper than when marked up to be sold over the counter, even wholesale. Same is true with labor: highly efficient factory assembly vs. a $75/hr mechanic who needs to not only install the new parts, but remove the old ones first as well.
