Default SS Install question...

...has anyone removed the radio and climate control units to make the ashtray easier to remove? Did it make it considerably easier, or is it just as easy to leave the ashtray in there? Thanks!

Default depending on your tools, some can leave the ashtray in

I had to remove my ashtray. but you don't have to take out the climate control, the ashtray just has to move a little out of the way. Oh if you are going to take up the ashtray remove the trim peice while it is bolted down just push the lid and when it come up grab it and pull firmly towards your self it will pop off. This will make the install of the ashtray easier.

yes, we removed the radio/cc/ashtray and it gave you more room to get to everything.

So...with the ball-ended wrenches and the tray taped out of the way I should be OK? Thanks Eddie Man

Default Regarding Ashtray "Partial" removal...

As for me, I did not need to do the below.

Just look and observe on how the ashtray slips out after the removal of the bolts. It kinda releases this spring activated trim-filler (between ashtray & climate control).

When re-sliding the ashtray back into place, that trim-filler piece needs to be worked/retracted back to get the ashtray back into position...Be patient w/ this, it is a little tricky...Took me about 5-10 minutes of millimeter juking and manuvering. Once in there about 80%, bolt back down and then operate ashtray door several times. It will seat 100% and then final tighten the ashtray.

Repost

Default This may be a given, but just in case....make sure you have a telescopic magnet

You will drop a screw.
