Starting Problems

Anyone having starting problems?
2003 A4 automatic 1.8.
Mine dies right after it starts. I have to crank it 3-4 times before it will hold at idle.
Even when I press gas when it starts, it does not hold at idle and dies right away.
Appreciate any inputs.
Thanks

cold engine needs extra fuel injected to provide a rich fuel/air mixture to start up quickly and not stall after starting. Vacuum leaks caused by bad hose/s will admit unmetered air into the engine. Being unmetered, the ECU does not add any additional fuel to that "false air" to compensate. The result is there is not enough fuel to start and continue running properly from cold.
