Default Is the stick shift on it's way out with CVT's?

Just throwing this out to see what everyone thinks. Will CVT technology get to the point that there is no real need for a stick shift? After all CVT is said to be (by Audi) quicker and at the same time smoother.
No, it's not as sporty perhaps but every manufacturer will probably soon offer a CVT in their lineup. Are the days of the stick shift numbered?

CVT may eventually replace current type auto trannies, but I doubt it'll replace a stick shift.

Default I have CVT and I think ...

The CVT is better than the regular Tiptronic. However, as for fun to drive, I'd pick a stick.

City Driving -> CVT; other driving -> Stick; Tiptronic -> obsolete

It's all about the fun and feeling in control of the car. Any stick driver knows that.

Default Well, it can already outperform or atleast equal manuals

soon it will take more power and it should be mated to quattro within a year.
The only reason not to have it will be for "fun" as all the cons of auto's are now out the window.
Theres a reason CVT was banned in forumla 1 back in 93... an inferior SMG type system was then employed

Default it is possible to have that degree of control with the multitronic too

with careful manipulation of the accelerator and intelligent forays into tiptronic mode when neccesary
