Default STOCK 15" w/Pirelli (Audi allroad) P6 FourSeasons tires kicked *** in 19 inch of unplowed snow here

Not shopping for snows. Gonna take off the FourSeasons asap and save them for next year too. I think snows are nice, a luxury. Best combo would be (add 1 inch for 3.0 car) 15" snows-cheap. can be replaced often for $250, 16" all-seasons-kept fresh in the garage, 17" summers-"smokers" bald, no tread needed during the highest wear period anyway. (heat+summer=wear)
I am not buying snows, they don't last as long as all-seasons do. So, later, down the road, more tread on the a/s could be better to have than a softer compound on the worn snow tires.

Default I agree with you Andy very cheap insurance!

My snows have save me more than once. The stopping power of 4 snows has saved the day and the damage that would occur to the front of Audi. The cost was peanuts for the safety and security of 4 snows. I also enjoy the stuck like glue feel while driving on ice and snow.

Yup - you can pay me a little now (Winter tires), or you can pay me A LOT later (body work)!

Default Good to hear but extra wheels and snows are better and really are not that much more money

over many years it is more the pfront cost. For cars this capable and expensive I think it deserves specific summer and winters to get the true all season performance we bought.

Default Dude, they wear out so fast. All-Seasons keep their tread much longer.

I am thinking A/S with more tread is better than snows that are half-way worn out.

Compound is more important than the tread.

Default Worn snows outperform new A/S in all aspects

I'm running 5 years on Toyo Observes and they must have around 30K miles. They will be done at the end of the winter but still are better than Bridgestone Potenza's. Winter driving with winter tires really needs to be experienced. The turning and stopping is amazing and fun freaking out passengers. Durability is not really as much of an issue as a few years back. ie: Blizzacks
