I just got my Clarion HU installed in my 2004 A4 (replaced the concert HU). Everything works awesome..the fronts are powered by the HU, and the rears are powered by the stock amp.

Only thing is the volume on the rears (including the sub) are very low compared to the front. So i had to balance it by fudging it and using the fader more to the rear to balance it.

Is it an "aftermarket HU - stock Bose amp" strange relationship? Cause when i had the concert headunit in, a FULL REAR fade and FULL FRONT fade almost sounded the same volume level.

No i kept everything stock. Is that why? does the stock amp "prefer" the Audi concert LINEOUTs as opposed to a Clarion LINEOUT?

I have heard that the line outs from the factory head are pretty weak. It may be the issue but it doesn't make sense to me that the rear would be too low. It is not ideal that you have no way to adjust the levels of the rear amp.

The factory speakers are 2 ohm and the clarion will not like to drive them so be careful with that. You will probably fry the head in time. I would replace all the speakers ASAP as they are crap and you will not get good sound with them no matter what you do.

Just run the clarion power front and back and get new speakers and you will be golden. If you do amp, amp the fronts before the back.
