Stock tire size: 205/65/15 - Sport tire size: 235/45/17 = 0.5" diff in circumference

I have the stock 15" wheels and tires. But I just bought 4 17" wheels. If I'm running my 17" wheels and one tire gets punctured while on a trip, can I just swap it for the 15" wheel in my trunk (as a temporary solution)?
Does the 0.5" difference in circumference make them interchangeable? Is the difference negligable? It works out to be a difference of 5.0 revs/mile or a 0.2" difference in diameter.
What I mean is... if I run 3 tires that are 235/45/17 and one tire is 205/65/15, will I be adding stress to the drivetrain/Quattro/etc? Am I being stupid?

that diffrence. If it really bothers you. In therory, inflate your 4, 17" tires to your normal pressure. Mount the 15" spare on one end of the car. Measure the distance from the center to the ground on one 17" tire (car on ground not on jack). Inflate the 15" tire until its center to the ground equals the same as the 17"....Bingo, effective equal diameters using tire pressure!
Otherwise you, the Quattro, the ABS, ESP, EBD, EDL, will never know the difference even if you don't do the inflation method above. Plus you won't need to adjust the spare pressure every time the temperature changes. Remember for every 10 degrees F change, the pressure changes by 1 psi. Hot trunk!!

Keeping it that way all winter may be bad. My guess is the car has to know how to adjust for this because if you are turning slightly to the right or left one wheel is turning slower.

failure, since the factory specs a full size spare and the word of failures related to different size tires (going on in general on these forums), I would stick to the rule keep tires of the same size and type

unlike audi, compact & japanese family sedans *mostly* come with a smaller size spare tire - if you drive conservatively for a short distance, the smaller dia shouldn't affect you...
