strange headlight behavior!
This is for a 03 A4 3.0 Q 6MT with 120k.
I have bi-xenons, and the driver's side auto level motor occasionally does not auto level the light and leaves it dipped. Thru the help of several on this forum, I think it has been isolated to a soon to be bad auto level motor. I've been too lazy to fix it as restarting the car causes the lights to relevel and the motor seems to work at that point.
Recently, a new problem developed that may or may not be related. Yesterday, after parking and turning off the headlights, the headlights, parking lights and fogs turned on after I turned the headlamp switch to the off position. The car was still running. I turned the switch to the on position again, the lights briefly went out, and then went back on. When I turned them off again, after a brief pause, the lights reillunimated despite the switch in the off position. Once I shut the car off, the lights went out. It has happened more than once.
Any thoughts on the source of the problem?
I'm thinking the most likely culprit is a a bad headlamp switch in the dash. Anything else? A bad relay? Is it related to the auto level problem?
thanks for your input.
