When I tried to start my car this morning, I heard a strange noise from under the hood. It sounded like a high pitch "squeak" and it only lasted about 1 sec or so right after startup. However, the noise went away when the car was warmed and the subsequent starts seem to be normal. It came back again when I tried to start and when the car was shut off and let cool for a while. So, is it telling me that it is there is something is about to go? Any comments would be appreciated.

I have a similar problem with the high pitch squeal in the mornings. The weird thing is that it only happens when my A/C is turned on. The problem also seems to go away when it's not cold outside.

Generally nothing to worry about unless you have lots of miles - in that case, be thinking about timing belt tensioner, water pump and timing belt.
