Default Suspension upgrades

OK, after reading the extensive "Am I Sport?" thread, I have determined that my "new" 03 a4 3.0 6sp is probably not sport. Although the car still handles much better than anything I've owned in most environments, the ride height and dialed in understeer bias (in addition to the pirelli p6's) is why the car seems to have less turn in and bite than my previous car, a conservatively modified 1999 Saab 9-3.

Have done some searching, but cannot get a good answer: Of the various suspension upgrades discussed here, what is their ranking, most conservative to most extreme, in terms of ride height, responsiveness, cornering max and comfort? I'm talking from spring/shock upgrades to coilovers, with and without changing sway bars, with and without bump stop/bushing changes. I need names named.

Back in Saabville, the default "standard" for the persnickety few was to go eibach/koni set to softest with new poly bushings everywhere, plus a fatter rear sway and slightly softer/stickier rubber. This conclusion was reached after months if not years of compared notes. The Saab suspension was in nowhere near the same class as the Audi in terms of sophistication and performance, but I figure a thread like this will help a quattro noob like me figure out what works best for him/her.

Would also like to know, in general whether it's better to "tame" an extreme suspension with allseason tires or the other way around?

Also, has everyone here installed suspensions them themselves or does anyone know what a fair price for comprehensive suspension labor on these cars?

Default you could get,

the STaSIS Motorsports Suspension setup and be done with it. You will not need a rear sway bar as you can spec out your spring rates to eliminate the need for a rear bar.

Install the STaSIS center and rear diff's and that will shift the bias to the rear and help eliminate some more of the understeer and give it a rear bias.

If you swap out your tires for some good rubber like the GY F1's or BS S-03's you will have a nice handling car.

Default Ouch.

Yeah, um, I googled the STaSIS: let's just say I'm better off trading in the '03 A4 on an '03 S4 than plonking down that kind of cash for something that will probably void most of my CPO warranty

Has anyone tried just putting in a stock s4 suspension setup into the a4 3.0? I figure a lot of s4ers are drooling for rs4 bits, leaving the scraps to us mortals.

I don't think it's possible.

Default Physically S4 parts would fit, but given the weight difference it's not recommended...

Except for the sway bars.

I'm quite happy with my setup. That said, if I'm to do it again now, I'd probably be trying the Bilstein PSS9.
