Default Technical Bulletin 69-05-06 - Airbag Lamp ON, Upper Limit of Side Airbag Exceeded

Hello all,

I'm preparing to perform this service bulletin myself in an attempt to get rid of my 01217 code (airbag light). It has appears about a month back and my warranty is expired. After cleaning the airbag connection under the driver seat, and clearing the code with my VAG-COM, light is back on.

This service bulletin was pulled from my Bentley manual, and seems pretty straight forward. End result is bypassing the connector altogheter by direct wiring the igniter wires.

My question: The service bulletin is asking for 0.5mm wire (25 gauge) for the repair. I have some 24 gauge (~0.54mm) laying around, can this be used? Am I better to use the "repair kit" from Audi listed in the bulletin:

Part# 111 971 941A - Butt Connector x6
Part# 000 979 010 - 0.5mm wire x1

Thanks for any info..

PS For those with Bently manual, search for "Technical Bulletin 69-05-06"...

Default The Audi repair kit is not required, but I recommend that you use only ...

the correct size commercial/industrial quality crimp connectors and tinned conductor wire. Alpha brand wire is one source. Obtain the crimp connectors, crimp tool, and wire from an electronics supply store. The quality of the crimp is essential, and must be correctly applied. It's OK to use the wire you already have otherwise.
