Default Theoretical top speed of 1.8T Quattro fitted with 6 speed box?

Hey guys,

Can someone with a B6 quattro 1.8T with a 6 speed box tell me how many km/h or miles/h your vehicle does in top gear at 1000, 2000, or 3000 rpm?

Have a 5 speed box and considering throwing in a 6 speed box when i change the clutch however, if there is no real benefit I'll save the $$$ for other mods.

Thanks for your time and merry Christmas form down under (Australia)

https://forums.audiworld.com/performance/msgs/76387.phtml</a

Default There is no real benefit...

I thought i'd be happier with the 6-speed. Ive had two 5 speed A4 cars and one 6 speed A4 and now a 6 speed S4. I can tell you I hardly ever use 6th gear. It's just an overdrive cruising gear. Flat out at Sebring you never need more than 5th gear. Its good for 150+mph or so on a chipped car with a raised redline and these cars wont be able to do that on any road courses I know of before running out of room. Sebring only has enough room on the modified A4 (say 270hp or so) for about 130mph. 6th gear will get you over 170mph but ask yourself when youre really going to need that extra 20mph.

Is there any difference between the 5 and the 6-speed transmissions strength/reliability wise?

If my tranny blows, I'll replace it with a 6-speed.

Default The only very robust tranny I know of is the B5 S4 tranny which is...

what champion racing used in the RS6 racecar and Stasis uses in all their race cars. Otherwise the A4 6-speed is unremarkable as far as I know.

Didn't drive the car that much since coming back. But I do know that I have a whiny fuel pump.
