Default Are there any known issues with the 6 speed on the 1.8t?

I am shopping for a 1.8t Avant and can't decide if the extra $$$ for an 04 is worth it. Coming from a B5 S4, several owners had issues with the 2nd gear syncros. I was wondering if the newer 2004 and up 1.8t 6 speeds had any issues.

thanks

Default Do not! - i repeat do not get a 1.8T 6MT - inside opinion awaits

i currently have a UltraSport 1.8TQ Avant. like yourself i had a B5 S4 Avant (stage 2). at this point i really wish i had opted for a 3.0 or 3.2 V6. the 1.8T like mentioned in a thread below it is gravy on the highway. but it is lame on surface streets. it feels like you need to beat the sh:! out of it to go anwhere.

is you are going to mod it - then it is a better choice. if you are looking for overall drivability i think the V6 is superior.

the 1.8T does not seem to get that great of gas mileage either. i average about 24 mpg combine - not much more than my S4

Default i dunno, just keep the rpms above 3k and shift before 5.5k and it drives fine. it only has 170 hp

stock, what did you expect. the 1.8t is way more tunable than a 3.0. give me a 1.8t and the difference in price for a 3.0 and my 1.8t will saaamoke 3.0.
