Is there any reason the radiator fans should remain motionless when the coolant warning lit up...

Default Is there any reason the radiator fans should remain motionless when the coolant warning lit up...

While coolant level is normal?

And I was gonna go on a road trip tomorrow...

Default Yeah, lost so much coolant that fan sensor is uncovered

Really. Sounds odd, but if the coolant is too low, the fan will NEVER trigger despite what temp the coolant is at.

Default Thanks for the response! The coolant level's just fine though.

Brought it to the dealership just now (I'm very pleased with them: they even gave me a '04 A4 1.8TQ as a loaner!), and their initial diagnosis is that somehow the coolant line is blocked, such that insufficient amount is going into the engine.
