Default ...and there she blows

On my way home from work, blew the last factory CP. Was in the center lane, went into the right lane and hit the gas in 2nd, boosted then I feel vibration...at first I thought fack, the clutch is gone because its not going anywhere fast. About 5 seconds after hesitating, the CEL flashes and I immediately knew the last CP blew (cyl 1). Had to drive down the road to pull over since this was a parkway and no breakdown lane.

Coil pack one lasted 80,750 miles, Revision M. Now I have no more spares, need to get two more and put them in the trunk. Now all the CPs in the block are revision Rs.

Default Congrats on being prepared. Failed CPs are no problem if you have spares.

Note that I had 1 'R' coil fail on me so don't think that they are 100% reliable.

Best to pick up 1 or 2 spares.

Are CPs more prone to failure under chipped / tuned environments?

Default Probably. My first one went at about 40k then while it was at the dealer, a second one

blew on the test drive after they fixed the first one.

My third one blew around 55k I believe.

Default Hmmm, had one R one go, eh? I'm planning on getting 1 or two more to replace the

one I just used. So far, the Rs have held up, the longest one being about 40k now.

Default I was actually thinking the other day that I still had one original because everytime I go

into the trunk, I see the spare on the side. 80k ain't bad. Strange though...all my other ones were Revision L I believe and this one that failed is Revision M.
