For those with custom exhausts - what size piping did you use and which brand mufflers?

I know very little about this topic, but am curious to know what people with custom exhausts decided to go with and what kind of power they're seeing from their setups. I'm thinking 2.5" test pipe and 2.5" downpipe, then split into two slightly smaller diameter sections going to the mufflers. Looking for a mellow sound (stock-like is fine with me), but as much HP as I can get. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Thanks!

If you're after hp, just get the Thermal Race + test pipe and be done with it. It is loud as hell though.
High hp gains and mellow sound do not go together btw.

From our website:
"High-Flow Catalytic converters are made to bolt directly to K03 & K04 turbos. The HFC is a 400-cell Carsound converter that will pass emissions tests. They are built with laser-cut 3-bolt flanges and two oxygen sensor bungs for proper ECU readings. The inlet diameter of the HFC is 2.5" at the turbo"<ul><li><a href="http://www.tantrumwerks.com/html/18exhaust.html">http://www.tantrumwerks.com/html/18exhaust.html</a</li></ul>
