Default for those that have changed!

the oil topic has been highly debated,
I've read post that says don't change b/4 7500k..

I'm curious, for those that have changed the
oil before 7500k or 10,000k:
Have you had n/e problem/s?
does the car leak oil?
does the car eat oil?
and what is the mileage on the baby?

Just trying to figure if there are n/e bad effects...it maybe too soon since the mileage
i'm sure is not to high(I mean like 90,000+)

Default I have 26K. I've changed oil at 5K, 10K, and 20K & will change again at 30K. No problems and

I've never had to add oil and I have no oil leaks. Is this one of the earlier postings (with links) that you're referring to? ...

It's been pretty strongly recommended that the break-in oil be left in at least 7,500 miles. Among other things, it apparently helps condition the cylinder walls for better ring seating. Here's something on that topic that's been floating around the forum for a rather long time:

<A HREF="https://forums.audiworld.com/a4gen2/msgs/245024.phtml">Why wait before doing the first oil change</A>

Although Audi doesn't seem to have a chart of recommended oils, The Mercedes chart (bottom link) seems to be a good reference.

Here are some synthetics that are often recommended here on the forum. The oil requirements in the manual are pretty picky and these are the synthetics that seem to come closest to what the manual asks for.

Kendall GT1 Full Synthetic 5W-40
Mobil 1 SuperSyn 0W-40
Valvoline Synpower 5W-40
Mercedes Recommended Oils

Some of us went into fairly heavy research on this subject when Audi switched from 5K recommended oil change frequency to 10K with the onset of the 2002 model year. That's a big step for someone who want's to take best possible care of their car but not deviate from factory recommendations.

Default Right now 29k. I've changed at 6k, 12k, 20k, and 28k.

First one was on my dime, the rest were the 10k services at the dealership.

I've had no problems at all. All four changes have been with Mobil 1 0w-30.
