For those not thrilled about having a boost guage in a conspicuous location...

I thought I'd share my setup. I admit, it's not the most practical location because you have to take your eyes away from the road. But I don't stare at the thing 24/7 anyway...it's there just to monitor boost when you need to know. I like the spot, because it's out of the way and doesn't take away from Audi's sweet interior.

gauges are meant to be seen not hidden from view IMHO

and I wouldn't stare at it while driving down the road anyway, regardless of where it was. Even if I had a HUD for boost, I wouldn't look at it all the time. It's just there as a tool. I know what my car makes for boost, and it makes the same boost every time I hit the gas, every time I take my car out. I think of it more as a diagnostic tool...if the motor is running funny, I'd glance at it...if I felt like the car was slower than normal, I'd glance at it.
If it was a more important gauge, such as a tach, I'd say it needs a better location. It's my personal opinion. Before I go on road trips, I check the PSI in my tires, but I don't feel like I need a gawdy gauge in my face 24/7 to remind me what my tire pressure is.
And to answer your question, no, it doesn't hit my knees. I'm a fairly big guy and I've never once bumped it.

condensation issues? Other than that, it looks very sweet. I wish Audi would give us a boost gauge instead of us having to install them on our own.

of moisture in the air 'cept in the winter and then I use the heater, so not a problem. I installed this myself and it dims nicely by tapping into the dimmer switch. And it allows for free flow air...only it can not be closed except to turn off the blower. A little pricey but it integrates really well with the TT's interior.
To me it always fun to look at boost when I really hammer it and see the boost up to the 23 lb. level and see it hold for what seems to be turbo internity. If it does this, I know my turblo is working properly.

but it is not my design...a lot of TT's use this same setup while others choose to go with a device called a Mantis. My setup is not too difficult to install..just the R&R of the dash is the hardest part. A few of the TT guys figured out the wire to tap into to get simultaneous dimming of the gauge and cluster. Result: total integration.
