Default Ahhh...thank you sir. I had been waiting for that. Be a sport and post some nice graphs for us...

all some day. I had a feeling the pressure drop would be a bit less after looking at the routing ot the twin set-up. ABT told me they have a beautiful FMIC at a great price, so i think i'll be hitting it. Thanks for the great info. Cheers! Mike

Default That 993TT BBK stuff is ancient...

Isn't it? You would want the 996TT BBK; like from <a href="http://www.hyperformance.ca/">Hyperformance</a>, but that's still around $2500.

<img src="http://www.hyperformance.ca/images/brakes/hva202.jpg">

From my past research, the Stoptech was one of the best for price/performance. Brembo was nice, but only in 355mm and at least $2600. AP Racing was around the same $$$ (smaller rotor I think). Alcon/STaSIS, was waaaaay out there $$$wise. And after that ECS Stage 4 kit, I wouldn't want any ECS kit (Stage 3 or other parts). That Stage 4 was heavy (especially the pads). This Stoptech 332 is much better IMO (although I was unable to test the ECS Stage 4). No regrets. I just wish the damn Aero rotor didn't rust like it does. But yes, for the price, very hard to beat. And Stoptech always seems to be perfectly matched, if not better sometimes, when tested against others.
Note: You might just want a separate set of pads for track days. Maybe even the 355mm kit if you're seriously needing the braking power for track conditions.

As to pricing; I'll help out as much as possible. Let me know when you're ready and what kind of price you found.

Haven't settled the wheel situation as I was hoping to have done already. Should know soon whether I will have to sell them myself or not. I'm trying to avoid legal threats. Both are saying I never mentioned a BBK - which isn't true.

Default I was just going to ask you that....

but in an earlier time frame. I'm itchin' to go within the next couple weeks. I'm sure we could get some others together for it and AMS might agree to a Saturday MAHA Dyno GTG (even if it is a smallish turn out).

Default Thanks a bunch for the info. man. I agree with you 100%...

although, I doubt I should need anything larger than a 332. Bigger than that and it's mostly about looks and just adding more weight. A 332 with some good pads should be able to stop me just fine, even after the inevitable stage 4. I hope the wheel thing goes well for you. I think everybody on AW knows you damn well mentioned a BBK. Good luck with it all D. Cheers! Mike

Default You know what, I don't have any graphs!!!....

I leave that up to you guys. ; ) I'm just not as professional as you, Derrick, Jet Jockey or Aggreivatier. : ) I used my prodiag/Vag tool, also on my gut feeling which doesn't mean much without empirical data, but I know my car now pretty well.

I will be dyoning the car soon to see what's going on. TTschwing and some other TT boys did more specific tests comparing the Duals with a FMIC. The graph they posted on some of the threads is comparing a SM with a FMIC so that's not a good comparision chart, but they both had the Duals, did the tests and the FMIC performed much better as it did in my low down dirty simple tests. : )

Default

fair enough. Sounds pretty promising for the FMIC, though. Thanks.

Default unsprung weight won't affect acceleration much differently than sprung weight

many will say that does affect handling... which is probably true to some extent. Those that claim their car is "so much faster" after switching to lighter wheels are FOS. There may be a more noticable difference when switching wheel diameters (say, going from 16" to 19"), but dropping as much as 7lbs/wheel will be more or less unnoticable.

Need a more tech. opinion? Ask audiworld...<ul><li><a href="https://www.audiworld.com/tech/wheel13.shtml">https://www.audiworld.com/tech/wheel13.shtml</a></li></ul>

Default Good info. Even a 2x multiplication index wouldnt be bad if say...

On my set-up i will be running wheels that are 7lbs lighter than stock and tires that are 3lbs lighter than stock. Add to that brakes that are about 5 lbs lighter than stock and a flywheel that is 15 lbs ligther than stock and we get a 120lb weight savings plus 50.5 pounds for the spare wheel and tire, 7.5lbs for the trunk mat and we're starting to get somewhere. Don't forget whe have the trunk molding, replacing the hood heat shield with a stick on foil set-up, taking out the back seat and the cowl covers, the tool kit, the first aid kit and things might start happening. I may just have a sub 3000 lb quattro when i'm all done. thanks. Mike
