those of you with noisy lifters (esp. @ high mileage) - changing them is WELL worth it.

how would one know if the sensors are artificially reading hot..other than the temp gauge
or the typical issue with the cooling fans going on when the rear coolant sensor is messed up (already replaced mine due to this issue).

the rear coolant sensor is usually a combo of the neck that cracks
so its best to replace both of those parts pro-actively. I guarantee you everyone on this forum will eventually get the cracked coolant neck which drips pink crust on to the bellhousing. The ecu goes nutz when there is air trapped up there and does some really goofy things. You won't see much since the water temp is just a dummy gauge. It can only read cold/warm/hot. But if you vag log the coolant temps you'll see it move fast all over the place from a cold start when the coolant sensor is not getting an accurate read.

ah, i replaced my rear coolent sensor, but not the neck. guess ill wait for it to crack.
it doesn't look like it's fun to replace, and that a decent amount of coolant will be lost.
on the bright side, it's always good to get some fresh coolant in there haha
