Default Thoughts on clear masks and bras

Trying to decide whether to get a clear mask or a traditional bra for my 1.8T. Also, if I get a clear mask, trying to decide whether to do the hood and mirrors only, or wrap the whole front bumper (which appears to be somehwhat spendy). Thoughts?

Default Do a lot of motorway driving? (highway driving)

bumpers can get eaten up, hood, hmm...

Best remedy is to follow the 2 second rule

Default I got it, totally worth it imo.

I think mine came out to around $500 installed, for the front bumper, 1/4 of the hood, mirrors, and the door edges. Haven't had any rock chips, and also, bug guts wipe right off the front bumper(my favorite thing about it).

I live in Colorado, and will make some long trips to the mountains. Roads are heavily sanded here (not salted), and rock chips are common. My 2000 4Runner looks like it has been through a sandblaster on the front end.

Default in that case Id go for the whole thing then, unless you want to repaint the bumpers

or just leave it blasted.

Do the hood, bumpers and mirrors like I did, worth every penny. Check my pictureposter.

Default Being on a tight budget, I got the head & fog lights done. $70 installed sure beats the cost of

light assemblies. I've had to have several headlight and foglight assemblies replaced in the past for a minimum cost of $130 each. To look at the car, you'd never know they were clearbra'd.

Default Leather=Bad ClearBra/StonGard/Xpel=Good

If you search the archives you will find many people that did the leather bra and just ended up with scratched paint.

The Stongard/xpel/clearbra product is practically invisible and really does protect. See pictures of my car with StonGard here: pdxdetail.com

I've had it on for a year now (mirrors, hood, bumper, lights) and could not be happier.

Default I would do the whole car if I could. But at a minimum I would do the bumper. It takes the most abuse

I have the xpel brand and it does its job very nicely. I know its pricey but so is the kind of damage you can get from regular road driving. Not to mention those trips to vegas....

In either case, it will not protect against everything.... but it will give you a warranty against your insurance deductible.
