Default Timeing Belt went or jumped so they say?? on my 03' 1.8T

Car has roughly 55,000 miles on it, had it towed to the dealer this morning, cause it would not start. Was making some funny noises when it was running though. They got a service rep coming down from the extended warranty company. What should i expect at this point. I was told to check the timing belt around 60,000 miles. Is AOA going to cover any of this, Is it possible i might get a new engine?

TIA

Default That is the suxor. Perhaps we should start recommending 40K mile TB changes instead of 60K...

I hope they take care of this for you. Tell them you are a member of the NA audi club as well. Good luck. cheers! Mike

Default that sucks

Audi recommends even more than 60k, but conventional wisdom here says to do it at 60...sorry to hear man :-/

Default I believe the manual recommends 90k or 105k miles for the TB? If AoA says no to coverage...

you should try to get them to cover it or at least cover half of the repairs...reference the manual saying that 55k is WELL before what Audi even recommends for the TB.

Someone on the B5 side recently had the same issue, I think his went at 60k or something like that and AoA wouldn't cover the entire thing but said they would pick up half of the tab because he used what the manual stated as a argument and such.

Worth a shot.

Good luck

Default that of course assumes you are not chipped...

if you are then, forget about it... they are going to say that the extra stressed caused by the chip made the timing belt go.
