Default Timing belt

I'm looking at the two timing belt kits on ECS tuning and one of them comes with a lightweight crank pulley. Just curious if this is worth it, and what exactly is benefits.

Also, I'm not going to do this job myself, so I was looking for any suggestions on shops that can do it in the Boston (north) area, and what I should look for in regards to amount of hours of labor. Thanks!

Default Ask this question on the New England regional forum and you should get...

some responses on where to get the TB job done North of Boston. I have a couple of suggestions but they are West and South of Boston. Let me know if you what to hear what they are.

Default you will not get a straight answer from anyone about the pulley..

some people go for it while others dont. i didnt opt for it. as far as the job itself it shouldnt be more than $300**that is not if audi is doing it**

I'd be willing to travel a bit if you really recommend someone. I'm in Beverly, so who do you know that's closest?

Default All recommend Advanced Technologies in Gloucester, was just there

over the weekend at the timing belt a thon change. I would just stick with stock crank pulley.

Cool, I'll give them a call. How much did it cost you and how long did it take? Thanks again!

Default It was a DIY tech day, he opened the shop on Saturday so it ended up

costing me a day away from the wife and son, a case of Harpoon and 20 bucks

Kinda bummed I missed it...so I just talked to the manager there. He said in addition to the ECS timing belt kit that I should get the serpentine belt (that's included in the kit right?), the front cam seals (2) and the front main seal. Anyone happen to know the part numbers for those? Also he said to get the thermostat...just wondering on the part number on that too. One final question, any recommendation on coolant? Thanks!

Default Personally I would either get the kit from Pure Motorsports or see what they

can get the parts for. As far as coolant goes stick with Audi/VW G12

Default Skip on the cam and front main seals, but def. get the thermostat.

I bought the seals and they are sitting in my parts bin because I didn't need them. Skip on the lightweight crank too
