Default think it was the tensioner causing the problem...

i hear it was this piece that caused the timing belts to become warn. this is what was causing premature wear.... thus, they break.

not too sure of the rest.

Default I know Audi revised the tensioners several times...

maybe the 2004+ models have the newest/revised tensioner from the factory?

Default I don't see the issue here

Are you saying, if you're still somehow under warranty (on an 03 or earlier car), and the TB requires replacement, you have to pay for it anyways? That would be wrong, agreed. If the car's in warranty, it should be covered.

If you're out of warranty, and the TB is inspected and deemed to need replacement, and you choose not to replace it then and there, you're still on the hook for any failures that may or may not occur, just as you were before the settlement. The settlement isn't designed to give you a free timing belt replacement, it's to ensure that you are informed that the timing belt maintenance requirements have changed, and that if in the past you followed the old requirements and lost an engine due to snapped belt, it would be covered.

There may be some extreme cases of newer low-mile cars that aren't under warranty being prompted to do the change early, but the majority of these vehicles should be at around 75k miles or so by now.

Default Hm, so you're under warranty, and you had to pay for TB job?

How many KM on your car at the time? Was this a premature wear issue, or the existence of a known bad part that caused the replacement?

I'm assuming after this settlement that is no longer the case?

Why did you take it to Queensway anyways? I hate those guys.
