Default Timing Belt and Auto Trans Fluid

I have a 1998 A4 2.8 Quattro. The car has 77,000 miles and I have not changed the Timing Belt. The manual says to change it at 90.000. This seems high, don't most companies say to change it at 60,000. I have not changed the Automatic Trans Fluid. One mechanic says not to change it all, the fluid is made to last the life of the car. Another said to change it at 100.000 miles. Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Default What's a good "long life" ATF? I was thinking of using Redline Syn D4 but if it's

not suitable for long interchange intervals then I'd rather go with something different. Any suggestions?

http://www.redlineoil.com/pdf/3.pdf

Audi Tip ATF is what I use. Can't get better, just similar at best. Mobil 1 works, save $50

So is the Mobil 1 worth saving the $50?

Default Absolutely not. Oddly, Esso makes a Tip-spec fluid...Exxon/Mobil/Esso...maybe M1 ATF is the same...

Techs get too uptight about trans fluid specs, imo. I would use M1 if it was a super-old car...or I wanted to pre-flush it before Audi fluid. I dunno, it just made sense to use the oem in mine and most cases. Those trannys are spensif.
